Cardiac Skills Australia specialises in echocardiography training & medical ultrasound for medical specialists. Established by Kellie D'Orsa, an experienced and accredited echocardiographer and educator, our training acknowledges the growing demand for bedside "Point of care" ultrasound as a fundamental tool for diagnostic evaluation. Kellie has completed her Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (Cardiac). Kellie is an Academic lecturer in Medical Imaging at Deakin University Geelong, Victoria. Kellie has also over 8 years experience as a PBL (Problem Based learning). Kellie has completed "Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, Learning & teaching" at Deakin University Geelong. Kellie is also involved in the exam writting for the DMU Cardiac compennent with ASUM.
We have designed a two-day basic bedside echocardiography & emergency ultrasound workshop to assist point of care and other specialists including GP's & cardiology, using a step-by-step approach within an intimate group setting. Our focus on a hands on, practical approach means delegates will walk away being able to confidently perform a basic echocardiography exam. Our team consists of expert experienced Echocardiographer's & general sonographers-the leaders in FCU/ECHO education.
Cardiac Skills Australia also offers one-on-one training on site if required for student sonographers, GP's, Cardiology trainees or Point of Care Physician's. CSA can visit your department & supervise scanning plus review CCPU image's.
Cardiac Skills Australia can visit individual Hospital Department's for a day/half day of "hands on training" on request. Private echo training is offered to keen delegates the Friday before the workshop dates (if not sold out prior).
Teaching style: we use a Facilitating Adult teaching approach including mini lectures, group discussion, sharing what you know & what you don't know, hands on practical emphasis-practising the new skill of cardiac US, & using a mix of learning styles to accomadate excellent adult learning. The 5 participatory processes are applied: reflecting, summarizing, sharing knowledge & demonstrating knowledge, teaching & receiving feedback.
Hands on Station: Each echo educator makes your scanning time specific to your needs.

"An excellent workshop . Pre-reading and lectures were very good however its hand's on probe time with expert instruction that is critical which Kellie's workshop delivers. Low ratio of delegates to instructors . I think everyone felt competent to obtain cardiac echo images from the 4 windows ,recognise anatomy and use doppler. Amazing to get so much skill in such a short time" Dr Jeremy Buttsworth Anaesthetics SJOG MH WA, Perth
"Excellent 2 day workshop. Enjoyed the live scanning, was very surprised by the amount of live scanning which is great. Will recommend to my colleagues" Dr Geoffrey Mifsud Westmed Hospital, Sydney.
"Just wanted to say that was an awesome weekend. A great learning experience and a great sense of camaraderie with everyone.
I will be certainly recommending this course to others. Hopefully will catch up next year at a refresher"
